BUFFALO, NY (Dec. 17, 2013) – Rural/Metro Medical Services, a leading national provider of ambulance services, announced today it has been awarded the exclusive contract to continue providing emergency ambulance services to the Town of Cheektowaga.

“We are proud to once again be named the emergency services provider for Cheektowaga’s 9-1-1 emergency ambulance needs,” said Regional Director Jay Smith. “We have been part of this community, and the region for more than 50 years and this announcement reaffirms the dedication our highly-trained crews and support staff have provided.”

The contract awarded to Rural/Metro by the Cheektowaga Town Council, Fire Chiefs and Town Commissioners is for another four years of service.

“We were pleased to unanimously support Rural/Metro for another four-year contract,” said Town of Cheektowaga Councilmember James Rogowski, the sponsor of the resolution. “They are an integral part of our community and a valued partner in our emergency response system with an outstanding record of service and exceptional compliance standards.”

Rural/Metro and its more than 500 employees who live and work in the Western New York region serve a number of communities, including Cheektowaga, Buffalo, Niagara Falls, and Springville. In addition to 9-1-1 emergency responses, the company provides non-emergency ambulance services to hospital systems and healthcare facilities throughout the region.

"Rural/Metro has built a strong presence in Western New York by providing exceptional service performance, and we are committed to growing with the community in the future," said Smith. “This contract award is a reaffirmation that high quality patient care, responsiveness to our customer and exceeding expectations is the right way to serve this community."

Rural/Metro Medical Services of Western New York was also recently named the Emergency Medical Services Agency of the Year by the New York Department of Health for EMS excellence and exemplary performance. Just this month, Rural/Metro was also recognized by the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulances Services, the “Gold Standard” of the ambulance industry, as a top industry performer.
